Last August we purchased a property in North Salem, NY to live with our family and operate our business. I wrote an entry on this page about moving in last Fall. The property as it was worked as a family farm but we wanted to be able to host a select number of clients as well. Over the next few months we worked with Dave Zublin and his team at Old Town Barns to bring our ideas to life.
It was important to us that the new building tie in seamlessly with the existing two structures. We also were mindful of the capacity and intent of the farm. We wanted it to continue to ring true as a family farm and not a commercial space. Dave and his team were able to deliver us with exactly what we needed.
The renovation included five additional stalls, a new tack room and two new heated wash stalls. Our existing shed was extended to include more storage space, a supplement room and a new bathroom. The arena was replaced with the help of Toby Carlson. We also changed the slope and shape of the driveway in order to accommodate a larger truck and trailer and insure proper drainage. The farm has become a perfect home base for us, North Salem is our oasis.
