October took us down to North Carolina for the 5* week in Tryon. We ended up staying for two weeks as the majority of our group was finishing up their season there. It ended up being a very productive stop for all of the horses. With Coco Fath in college (make us proud CF!) her young horses came with us to stay fit and gain some more ring miles. I learned more about both horses through various changes of boots and bridles. I like to jump a few rounds with my student’s horses when possible to be able to give better feedback.
We also reunited with Ze Carioca (8 year old by Canturo x Kannan) who is a fantastic addition to my string. Ze had been in quarantine in Kentucky for the month of September so it was nice to have him back in the barn this past month to be able to work with him more consistently. A special thank you to the quarantine staff at Spy Coast Farm and to Ali Boone for taking such wonderful care of our special guy.
The most improved of 2019 goes to 7 year old My Jewel’s Magic Touch. “Magic” arrived to our stable in February quite insecure but willing to learn. Over the past 9 months he has evolved significantly. He was clear in almost every class including his debut in the 1.40 division. We have high hopes for this very special young horse.
Seeing Jordan back in the ring with Alexa now has been really fun. Jordan was clear the whole week in the Medium AO division and finished 4th in the classic. Fingers crossed for more action in the future from these two.
The last three horses of the group went from successful weeks in Tryon on to a fantastic week at the National Horse show in Kentucky. Artemis Equestrian Farm’s Quality FZ, Venice Beach and our HH Fireball were all in the ribbons at the prestigious NHS. My girl Venice placed enough to help me move up nearly 100 places in the FEI rankings. The next few weeks the horses will be relaxing at home, with the two FEI horses gearing up for a tour in Europe to jump in CSI5* Paris and CHI Geneva.
